Fredrik Johansson dead at 47, ex-Dark Tranquility Rhythm guitarist’s tragic cause of death revealed


The metal community is in mourning as former Dark Tranquility guitarist Fredrik Johansson has died aged 47.

Mikael Stanne posted on the official Dark Tranquility Facebook account announcing Johansson’s passing. In a lengthy post, he revealed that their rhythm guitarist passed away on January 25, Tuesday, after a three-year battle with cancer.

The frontman also wrote in the statement that Johansson replaced him as guitarist so Stanne could focus on vocals, he wrote, “and with that he raised the bar and blazed a trail. of what we could do and wanted to be”.

“His influence and passion had an absolutely huge impact. The first song we wrote together was something we ended up calling ‘Punish my Heaven’, and with that we knew we were on a path we never knew we were on. ’til then dreamed of. ,” he added.

“Fredrik was ruthlessly funny, lively and very intelligent, and would light up a conversation with his incredibly positive and quick-witted commentary,” Stanne also wrote. “His sense of humor and adventure most often led to epic excursions into silliness and madness that I will forever miss”

According to the frontman, Johansson left their band in 1999 to focus on his family. “Knowing about his battle with cancer for almost three years and facing the fact that this day would eventually come doesn’t make it any less real,” the 48-year-old singer also said.

“We all still feel it. And we always will… On behalf of the entire Dark Tranquility family, we love you Fredrik and we will miss you forever.”

The metal rock band will continue their US tour. His songs will be played. The band said they “aim to keep their name and musical legacy alive”, also exclaiming, “He was one of us and we love him”.

“‘It is what it is, and what will be,’ as Fredrik said, might remind us that our time here is only temporary,” he concluded. “And we should make the most of the beautiful personal relationships we have and cherish the people we’ve surrounded ourselves with.”

Fredrik Johansson joined the band after Dark Tranquility released their debut album, “Skydancer”, although he contributed to the band’s later added track “Of Chaos and Eternal Night”. According to Loudwire, the guitarist’s first full-length album with the band came out two years later, in 1995 with “The Gallery.” His final contribution with the band was the band’s fourth track, “Projector”, in 1999.

That his soul rests in peace.
