NEWRACOM presents the first HaLow Wi-Fi sensor solution

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Sept. 21, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – NEWRACOM, a factoryless semiconductor company and provider of IoT-enabled Wi-Fi SoCs, today announced the world’s first demonstration of HaLow Wi-Fi Sensors at Sensors Expo 2021 on September 22-23, 2021 in San Jose, California.

Sensors Expo has been showcasing the latest and most innovative technologies that define the future of sensors and the IoT industry for 36 years. NEWRACOM shows how HaLow Wi-Fi enabled sensors and other IoT devices can communicate reliably and efficiently at McEnery Convention Center booth # 1041.

The HaLow Wi-Fi sensor network, powered by NEWRACOM’s NRC7292 system-on-a-chip, is used in home and industrial sensor nodes to monitor process changes and relevant ambient conditions. Real-time information gathered from the sensors enables better control and better decisions to improve the performance status of domestic and industrial processes. In particular, in factories, refineries and agricultural applications using thousands of sensors spread over great distances, Wi-Fi HaLow has the ability to connect these devices in a secure, low latency and affordable network. The HaLow Wi-Fi architecture is star oriented to establish longer distance connections while offering wider choices of data rates and power consumption profiles than existing connectivity technologies.

The HaLow Wi-Fi SoC, NRC7292 is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.11ah standard operating in the unlicensed band below 1 GHz. It offers ultra-low power consumption, long-range connectivity, penetration through obstacles and reliable data throughput that other IoT technology options promise, but with the added benefit of native IP support, integration easier network and improved security. Based on these advantages, NRC7292 is the most comprehensive solution for various IoT needs including smart homes / cities, surveillance systems, industrial process control, logistics and asset management, sales labels retail, building automation, agriculture and environmental sensors.

“NEWRACOM is positioned as a real competitor in the growing sensor and IoT markets,” said Zac Freeman, vice president of marketing and sales at NEWRACOM. “The world’s first HaLow Wi-Fi SoC, the NRC7292, enables the creation of unprecedented new IoT applications and reinvigorates existing IoT applications with optimized range, throughput and power consumption.”

About CNRC7292

The NRC7292 is the world’s first and only HaLow commercial Wi-Fi SoC compliant with the IEEE 802.11ah standard. Operating in the less than 1 GHz unlicensed band, it offers greater range up to 1.6 km compared to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz technologies. 1/2/4 MHz channel widths with optional Short Guard Interval (SGI) offer PHY rate of 150 Kbps to 15 Mbps which can support low rate sensors for surveillance camera applications at broadband. The protocol’s power saving mechanisms, such as a longer standby mode, significantly reduce power consumption and thus increase battery life.
