Wag and Jam concert at Uptown Market to support HSOG | Relax

An indie / Americana concert in mid-October will support the nonprofit Humane Society of Greenwood’s animal rescue measures.

A limited number of early bird tickets for the second Wag & Jam are on sale until September 25 for $ 20 on eventbrite.com. Regularly priced $ 25 tickets are available until the day of the concert.

Doors open at 6 p.m. on October 16 and the show begins at 7 a.m.

The concert will take place at Greenwood’s Uptown Market, 220 Maxwell Ave., featuring Charleston headliners Susto and special guests Darby Wilcox and the Greenville Peep Show.

Mary Rylander, HSOG Board Secretary, is Area Manager for the local Colgate-Palmolive industry.

“This is my third year on the Humane Society board of directors,” said Rylander, a dog owner. “It’s a good fit for me. I have a load of dogs.

Rylander said 100% of the concert’s proceeds support the HSOG Adoption Center, Spay / Sterilization Program, Human Education and more.

“When COVID hit, we couldn’t have a big indoor event last year,” she said. “We opted for an outdoor pod style concert with local musicians at the drive-in cinema. This year we moved it to Uptown Market to make it a weekend event. Uptown Market is a great fit for this. … We upped the stakes this year, with more well-known bands.

Rylander said Susto has “original and fun videos” and she describes their sound as “very easy to listen to and a summery vibe.”

The group made a name for themselves touring and performing at major festivals in the United States. Susto’s 2019 album, “Ever Since I Lost My Mind,” was produced by Grammy-winning producer Ian Fitchuk (Album of the Year for Kacey Musgraves’ “Golden Hour”). This year, Susto released “Time in the Sun”. Now released a single, “Summertime”.

Food trucks will have a variety of foods at Wag & Jam. High level event sponsors will have access to a VIP area and main sponsors will have designated concert seats.

“Definitely bring lawn chairs and blankets to the market for the show,” Rylander said. “Social distancing and masks are encouraged. If anyone is interested in sponsoring this concert, please send an email to: [email protected]dhumanesociety.org.
