With a career spanning over a decade, Sinaya was known for his sound heavily influenced by thrash and death metal. In the midst of the pandemic, the group found itself facing its own obstacles. The end result was their complete overhaul, with a great transformation and evolution of their sound.

With the fusion of death metal and deathcore in their most recent work – currently inspired by a more modern stream of metal – Sinaya then becomes the world’s first female-only deathcore band.

“Afterlife” is the first single from Sinaya’s second studio album, starring CJ McMahon of Thy Art Is Murder.

Singer Mylena Monaco comments on the group’s new era:

“ Deathcore is a style that I listen to a lot in recent years, and I fall in love with it more and more every day. It’s a newer style, but harder to sing because it covers a lot of vocal techniques, and I’ve been studying a lot lately. With Helena Nagagata joining the band in 2020, the migration to this style made things even easier, as she is a very versatile guitarist who has a background in progressive metal and its variations. She brought songs with heavier tunings to this new album, which matched my vocal ideas very well in this more deathcore style. After a lot of discussion, we decided together to start taking the band to this new, modern sound. “

“When we went to Fusão Studio in April 2021 to start recording the new album with the old line-up, we ran into some technical contingencies and had to hire a sub to record the drums at the very last one. minute. Now we are migrating to that style, we needed a drummer who technically could live up to the new sounds. Two months later, after many auditions with drummers from all over the world, Amanda Imamura officially joined the band. She is a drummer that I have been trying to bring to Sinaya for four years and now it has finally happened. She has already played this modern style a lot, she is very technical and precise and at the same time , she is very strong and has a heavy hand. “

“Amanda Melo is a bassist who was already a fan of Sinaya, and she is an extremely competent musician – in September 2021 – two months after joining the band, we went back to the studio so that she could record the basslines and she managed to perform amazingly, recording the songs mostly in one take. “

“With this new album, we are here to show that the woman of extreme metal is technical, has a lot of strength (both physical and mental), and knows how to take a high level band seriously.”

“Now we are exploring another style of metal that we love, on a much higher level than what we were doing before, and for that reason I decided to be a full time singer, to be able to explore these new ones. techniques even further. We had the support of great members of renowned deathcore bands, and one of them was CJ McMahon, frontman of Thy Art Is Murder, who you can discover on this release. We are very happy with his featuring, because he’s a huge benchmark for us and for the global deathcore scene. “

“With this job we always play metal for all tastes. Some songs still sound mostly death metal, others sound more deathcore. But the next ones will be much more deathcore and its strands.”

For the artwork of the single, the group opted for a more minimalist concept, avoiding the idea of traditional metal sleeves. Purple was chosen for this work, due to the color symbology it refers to spirituality – since the song deals with the theme ‘Beyond’. This color also signifies the absence of internal fears and other human concerns and transformations, which the group and the world faced after the start of the pandemic.

The artwork was made by Artur Fontenelle of Dead Mouse Design, who has worked with Brazilian groups such as Oitão, Torture Squad and Claustrofobia before.

The full album is slated for release in 2022, more details to be announced shortly.
