Malcolm Brickhouse (ex-Unlocking the Truth) resurfaces with a new song, “Rapture”

The flame of teenage metal band Unlocking the Truth died out as quickly as it caught fire for predictable reasons. Brooklyn’s teenage black metal trio grabbed the world’s attention in 2014 when they switched from street performers to a $ 1.8 million recording deal, but they were released from that contract. a year later when the whole thing fell flat on its stomach. No detailed public explanation of how this turned out has ever been released, but I think it’s a safe assumption that the enormity of putting so much pressure on a group of teenagers with little experience. professional musical played a role.

Today, the band’s lead guitarist, singer and songwriter Malcolm Brickhouse is back with a brand new song and brand new video, “Rapture.” Operating under the nickname Malxolm Brixkhouse, the song mixes modern R&B production and vocal styles with the metal guitar riffs and drums for which Brickhouse is best known. Brickhouse is about 20 years old now, by my calculations, and maturity shows it: not that we should judge his past work as a sixth-grader too harshly, but his new business has a much more singular identity. I’ve never heard of anything like it before, and it does a great job selling it in the video.
