Men’s golf in sixth after first round of Arcadia Classic; Stoker tied for seventh place



LAKEWOOD, NJ – The University of New Jersey City men’s golf team competed in the first round of the Arcadia University Spring Launch Classic on Friday, April 1, which was held at East Ridge Golf Course of 6,690 yards at par-72. NJCU sits sixth overall over 18 holes, while freshman Evan Stoker (Clinton, NJ/Voorhees) sits tied for seventh in leading the way individually for Gothic Knights.

Host team Arcadia Knights “A” sit in first place after a first round score of 331, while Cairn University’s Ryan Borrmann tops the individual standings after a first round score of 76. For Jersey City, Stoker shot a team-low 82 and is tied for seventh out of 35 golfers.

NJCU Rookie Mate Tamuda Kaseke (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. John’s College) is tied for 21st after shooting a 93 on Friday, followed by the seniors Josh Marseille (Linden, NJ/The Wardlaw+Hartridge School) and Zachary Ware (Fort Lee, NJ/Bergen Community College)who are respectively 27th and 28th.

The Vert et Or return to the Eagle Ridge course tomorrow morning, Saturday April 2, for the second and final round of the Arcadia Classic. Stoker is currently six shots off the lead and will be looking to make a push in the second half of this 36-hole tournament.
