Orpheum Theater Group Announces Winners of 13th Annual High School Musical Theater Awards


On Thursday, May 26, 2022, the Orpheum Theater Group announced the award winners 13th Annual High School Musical Theater Awards.

Students and supporters from 38 participating schools across three states came together to celebrate the performance of their peers on the Orpheum stage and in supporting roles backstage. The evening was the culmination of a year-long program bringing together students from across the Mid-South for an intensive week of teamwork, collaboration and celebration of musical theatre.

The nominees for Lead Actor and Actress of 2021 returned to the Orpheum stage to host the evening’s ceremony. The winners of the Lead Actor and Lead Actress awards – Brima Gassama (Germantown High School) and Vera Brown (Crosstown High School) will represent the Orpheum High School Musical Theater Awards at the National High School Musical Theater Awards® (The Jimmy Awards®) at the Minskoff Theater on Broadway on Monday, June 27. The 13th Annual Orpheum High School Musical Theater Awards are sponsored in part by Ticketmaster, Dean HD, Production One and Sedgwick.

The Orpheum High School Musical Theater Awards are part of The National High School Musical Theater Awards® (the Jimmy Awards®) which includes 46 programs from across the country. Presented by the Broadway League Foundation, the program sends one lead actress and one lead actor recipient from each of these competitions to New York City for an intensive week of theater coaching and rehearsals with industry professionals in preparation for a night out. of a single night. showcase on Broadway.
