Pearl Jam aims to record next album with Ozzy producer Andrew Watt

Pearl Jam will likely record their next studio album with Ozzy Osbourne producer Andrew Watt.

Watt is the same multi-faceted record producer, musician and songwriter who has also produced material by Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, Elton John and several others.

That’s the scoop according to Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder. He recently let slip the producer’s plan for the Seattle alt-rock titans’ eventual follow-up to gigaton, the band’s 2020 album which saw its subsequent touring plans thwarted by the pandemic.

“We’re going to do a record with Andrew, I think,” Vedder told Mojo magazine this month, as subsequently reported. Yahoo! Style. (January 23)

In fact, the band that propelled grunge to its 1990s heights has “already talked” about working with Watt, the Pearl Jam singer added.

Vedder further relayed, “You know, the pandemic happened just as we were leaving for a tour on the gigaton registration. And we had a lot of shows planned.”

Watt produced and contributed to Vedder’s next solo album earthling, Who arrives in February. Last fall, Watt joined Pearl Jam on stage to play guitar on their debut hit “Alive.”

Looking ahead, Pearl Jam – which now has former Red Hot Chili Peppers member Josh Klinghoffer in its ranks as a touring guitarist – is gearing up for more shows this year.

“In the meantime, I think we’re going to record,” Vedder continued, “because now we have a healthy ambition to do so. I think we’re going to move fast for a year or two, and then I can see us slowing down. a little.”

But don’t think Pearl Jam is going to throw in the towel anytime soon. Praising his band’s skills, the singer suggested his projections were based on the best interest of their future.

Indeed, Pearl Jam “now has the ability to play better than ever,” Vedder asserted, “but also know what we want to keep the band healthy and want to keep coming back.”

Watt produced Osbourne ordinary man, Cyrus’ plastic hearts and large portions of Justin Bieber Justice and 5 seconds of summer Calmed down. He has also worked with Ed Sheeran, Young Thug, Maroon 5 and Dua Lipa and many other artists.
