From then on, she reversed her behavior, diving deep into a damaging mindset in order to please those around her.

She stopped speaking to herself, put her head down and simply did as she was told as she silently descended into depression and a severe eating disorder.

“Since I got the flier (in 1994) for the audition, being in the band was everything I ever dreamed of,” she said in her memoir.

She continued: “So any kind of criticism, or like at BRITS 96 when I had this little falling out with Victoria, anything that put an element of doubt that I was going to be able to do this thing was more d impact that anyone would realize.

Melanie also revealed that she was sexually assaulted at a hotel the day before the first Spice Girls concert.
